Mobile Kino presents: The Canyons
What happens when James Deen (The porn star) and the infamous Lindsay Lohan (Fresh out of rehab) land the lead roles in a film directed by a forgotten talent from the 80’s and written for the screen by none other than Bret Easton Ellis? The not so surprising result is the death of cinema. Come and see a train wreck so bad that it’s actually weirdly entertaining to watch. The Hollywood hills have been turned to canyons in a film about the film industry, sex, drugs, and the dark side of celebrity lifestyle.
Author Bret Easton Ellis was at one point an up and coming writer. At a young age he wrote American Psycho and Less Than Zero which among others were critically acclaimed best sellers and eventually turned into feature films. In 2013 the author teamed up with director Paul Schrader who is most know writing such classics as Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and American Gigolo. The collaboration from these two could have been something special but what we get is something that seems like a total failure severed up as something meaningful about the state of the film industry. Whatever the intention the end result is a mess so bad it’s actually good. This is the best bad film to watch on a big screen.
