Wednesday 30.10.19 – 8:30pm: Easy Love
Mobile Kino Presents:
Easy Love (German with English Subtitles)
No actors, no script, no fake emotions. Screening at the 2019 Berlin International Film Festival as part of “Perspektive Deutsches Kino”, a sidebar dedicated to upcoming German filmmakers, Easy Love is the experimental fiction debut of Tamer Jandali. It follows seven men and women aged between 25 and 45 on their search for a balance between emotional security and sensual fulfilment. United by themes of sexual frustrations and unrequited attractions, Jandali accompanies these adults, exploring the details of their romantic and sexual misadventures within the context of their individual lives. Idealistic notions of individualism and freedom are therefore bound to collide with the fear of loneliness and disappointment. And so the protagonists’ desires often lead them astray, sometimes to a therapist, but also towards true love.
This semi-controlled study of contemporary urban adult living is a unique and engrossing documentary-meets-fiction piece that gradually invites audience members to become active observers rather than passive viewers. As a result, it brings to light our own questions of what is “right” and “wrong” in the volatile realm of love.
