Wednesday 04.09.19 – 8:30pm: Moonlight | Yellow Carpet Films – Theme 3 : Ethnic Diversity

Yellow Carpet Film Nights are a place to appreciate the wonderful art of film. Every month we will explore a different theme that shines a light on the representation of social topics such as women, queer, gender and ethnic diversity.

Our third theme is ETHNIC DIVERSITY. Over the month of September we will be screening four films that show how different ethnicities have been represented over the generations and genres of cinema.

*** This event will be open air unless the weather does not permit. If the weather is not kind to us, we will move the screening into the warehouse and make an announcement 2 hours before the film begins.

Have you ever thought about the importance of ethnic representation in film ?

Do you think the representation that we see in films impacts how people from these ethnicities are seen in society?

Do you think they are represented fairly?

Moonlight (2016)

Moonlight charts the life of Chiron across three defining chapters of his life – starting out as a young black man growing up in turbulent Miami, it follows his ongoing struggles with his accepting sexuality and unstable family life.
