Alejandro Jodorowsky’s second film El Topo is western following a gunfighter on quest in search for a higher meaning of life. The film has a cult following with a backstory of becoming popular in the 70’s after a theater started screening it at midnight. Audiences loved the late night screenings with word spreading and even the likes of John Lennon joining in on the midnight, big screen, spiritual adventure. El Topo is the film that established Jodorowskys name and talent and truly marked his place on the cinematic map.
